My Favourite book

           " Madoldoova " is my favourite book. It is a novel written by the well known writer Martin Wickremasinghe. It is an adventure story.

                This is a very interesting story. This book has been translated into several languages. This novel is full of escapades of the rural boyhood. Some of them are the Robbers, The Cadju raid and the Veddha game.

                   The main character of this story is Upali Giniwella. His closest friend is Jinna . Upali is a motherless child. His mother died when he was seven years old. He is looked after by his step mother. He does not like the environment at home. So he compels to engage in various escapades with his friends.

                    At last he runs away from home with Jinna and cultivates a land . It is called Madoldoova , an island . They work hard and become good citizens. 

                    We can learn many good qualities of Upali through this novel. The most important lesson that is taught through this story is that  anyone can make progress in his or her life through hard work.
